What an amazing idea, a virtual reality sphere! Essentially you step into this thing, and you can move around like in a hamster ball, combined with a VR headset you can use this thing to walk around any environment you can imagine! The best thing is that this thing will work with already existing video games without extensive modifications. I want one!
It does seem like you can already buy one if you email the people who make them.
How it works: Virtusphere consists of a 10-foot hollow sphere, which is placed on a
special platform that allows the sphere to rotate freely in any direction according to
the user’s steps. A user is able to walk and run inside the sphere, viewing the virtual
environment through the head-mounted display. The sensors collect and send data to
the computer in real time and user’s movement is replicated within the virtual
environment.
The same hardware set can be used for different applications simply by switching
software. We are close to finalizing the development of the Virtual Game Controller (VGC) that allows for adaptation of existing 3D applications for use with Virtusphere.
Recent tests of the VGC have demonstrated that soon Virtusphere users will be able to completely immerse into most 3D games without special modifications

Probably this feels more real than the Omni plus Oculus Rift combo, but it probably comes at a much higher price. So for now this will be limited to research and development use.
