ACTA Canceled after EU-Parliament vote!

neVmK ACTA Canceled after EU Parliament vote! gadgetzzParliament voted “no” to ACTA. It means this agreement will not enter into force in the EU.

The European Parliament just decided to cancel ACTA! After the final voting the ACTA agreement was downvoted by a large percent of the partiliament. This means that the deceptive treaty is now dead globally.

The EU Parliament has received well over two million signatures to protest the Acta, partly because of fear of freedom on the internet will be limited.

– If we are to have an elected parliament in Europe to represent the citizens, it is really fine that Parliament may take the public’s concerns and opinions into consideration when making their decisions. It’s a very strong day for European democracy, says  Amelia Andersdotter (Pirate Party).

478 people voted against ACTA today. Only 39 voted in favor, while 165 abstained.

Poor countries can continue to get cheap medicine. Our Internet service providers do not need to snoop on their users even more than they have to do now. Linux users can still get to watch DVDs on their computers. Bittorrent does not become illegal. And hopefully you will not let customs agents search the hard drive of your laptop for unlicensed MP3 files. The fact that this happened just on the 4th of july was probably just a coincidence.

ACTA is a controversial trade agreement designed to stop copyright infringement, both in terms of physical piracy and the Internet. Proponents believe that the agreement is an intellectual property protection, and a necessity for the future. While opponents say that it is at the expense of civil liberty and privacy, and that it primarily benefits large companies.

Why The Bubbles In Guinness Go Downwards

guinness+%25281%2529 Why The Bubbles In Guinness Go Downwards gadgetzzIn all carbonated beverages bubbles are known to go upwards, in the beer Guinness this is strangely not the case. Recently the secret was uncovered as to why bubbles go down in this very special beer.

They used a super-fast camera that magnified the bubbles to 1000 percent of their normal size and zoomed in on their behavior.

They found that the bubbles rose rapidly at the center of the glass, pulling the surrounding liquid with them and setting up a circulating current while the outlying bubbles moved downwards. Meaning the bubbles dont actually just go downwards, but really fast upwards!

Senior researcher Dr Andrew Alexander, who lectures in chemical physics at the University of Edinburgh, said he had wanted to do this experiment since drinking Guinness as a student.

The Nook Color android tablet is here

lead1 The Nook Color android tablet is here gadgetzzbn nook pr top 1 300x189 The Nook Color android tablet is here gadgetzzBarnes & Noble just unveiled its all-new Nook Color, an Android tablet fronted by a 7-inch color touchscreen… so long, e-ink! (Not really, the $149 original Nook is sticking around for now, owns 20 percent of the e-reader market, and is about to get a major software update). B&N is billing it as a hybrid of e-reader and tablet device, and has beefed up its software with a full-on tablet-style UI, along with Facebook and Twitter integration. There’s built-in WiFi (802.11b/g/n) and 8GB of storage, but no 3G at this point. Thankfully, the price stays aggressive as a result: $249. You might think that means the screen is going to be weak, but B&N has managed to put an impressive-sounding “VividView,” 16 million color, 1024 x 600 IPS display in this thing. Interestingly, there’s a “full lamination screen film” on top of the LCD to reduce glare, apparently from the backlight, not just from external light sources.

Build-wise, there’s that striking corner handle we saw before (smacks of the XO-3, doesn’t it?) and a microSD slot, with a 0.48-inch thick body and a 15.6 ounce overall weight. Battery life takes a notable hit, of course, with a rating of 8 hours of reading with the WiFi off. Of course, underneath it all is still Android, and Barnes & Noble is launching the Nook Developer program to allow third party apps on the device, and it even ships with a few favorites like Pandora and Lonely Planet. The color screen also enables a new library of “Nook Kids” children books, full-color magazine and newspaper subscriptions, and video playback if you’re in the mood. The Nook Color ships on November 19th, pre-orders are available now.

New ipod nano teardown!

Exited to see whats inside this squared little ipod? Well here it is!

ipod nano teardown New ipod nano teardown! gadgetzz

The 6th-gen device weighs in at 67 percent of the volume of its precursor, with a slightly thicker body and that integrated clip on its back. Its 240- x 240-pixel display offers a 220ppi density, which, within Apple’s ranks, is bettered only by the Retina Display on the fourth generation iPhone and iPod touch devices. Regrettably, just as with those two machines, the 2010 nano has its front glass, LCD and touchscreen assembly fused together. One handy bit of news here is the battery size, which at 105mAh is what you might call paltry, but still doubles the old shuffles 51mAh. All in all, the conclusion from this dissection is that the new device feels more like a shuffle with a screen than a miniaturized nano, which, when you look at the form factor, makes all sorts of sense.
