The new Ipad is official!

ipad 3 tim cook The new Ipad is official! gadgetzz

Tim Cook CEO of Apple unveiling Ipad 3, first time without Steve Jobs!

The new ipad was announced yesterday, and like expected it features a retina display. With 2048 x 1536 resolution its probably the best tablet pc screen out there. And on 9.7″ that equals 3.1 million pixels at 264ppi.

Also it has the new A5X processor wich has basically the same specs as the tegra 3, but apple still promises it will perform up to 4x faster than the Tegra 3!

It also has a new camera with 5MP and a backside illuminated sensor. Also you can film in 1080P.

3 7 2012newipadpress The new Ipad is official! gadgetzzAlso you will be able to push a button on the keyboard and dictate what you want to write, kinda like in Android.

The new iPad also has 21Mbps HSPA+, but it also has an LTE radio capable of pulling down 73Mbps on both Verizon and AT&T here in the US. Outside of the states Rogers, Bell and Telus will also be scoring 4G flavors of the iOS tablet. Amazingly enough, even with an LTE antenna on board, Apple is still claiming to get 10 hours of battery life. That’s probably partially do to the slightly increased weight of 1.4lbs, though the 9.4mm thickness is not  to shabby. I must say this was better than expected even though it dosen’t feature anything exiting, it seems like a damn good tablet!

The new iPad will be available March 16th, starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi model and scaling up to $829 for the 64GB version with 4G. So, on the price front, nothing has changed. Pre-orders start today in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia, and the rest of the world will (probably) follow on March 23′d. (more…)

A new study from Spaceport says Apple’s iPhones and iPads do a far better job of handling HTML5 in the browser than competing Android-based devices.Spaceport Apple IOS proves to be faster at handling HTML5 than Android gadgetzz

It dosent really come as a surprise, but IOS handles HTML5 objects a lot better than Android OS. Why is that, probably beacuse ANdroid is a very cluttered OS which slows it down.

In order to arrive at those figures, Spaceport examined the maximum number of images that could be smoothly pushed through HTML5 in mobile browsers. The best Android tablet, which Spaceport did not reveal, was able to smoothly translate less than 100 images at 30 frames per second. Apple’s iPad 2, on the other hand, smoothly translated more than 300 images at 30 frames per second.

notifikationsfalt android ios5 patent Apple did steal their notification system from Android, Google might have it patented! gadgetzz

The drag down notification field has always been one of Android’s top characteristics. This feature was actually designed by Swedish design studio TAT which later was acquired by Canadian RIM (Research In Motion), located behind the BlackBerry mobile phones.

Many android users have probably wondered why it is that Apple apparently copied Android’s notification system with the introduction iOS5. The two notification systems are so similar that some wondered if Apple actually paid money for the license to use the function or if Apple were encroaching on Google’s patents. I myself thought it was a very lame move from Apples side.

Now it appears that Google filed for a patent for their notification system as early as 2009. Things can move slowly in the world of patents and the application has not be granted yet.

If Google’s patent for the function is granted it would, in theory mean trouble for Apple. Eventually, the patent can then be used to balance out all the lawsuits on Android.

Mac OS X USB Drive Apple will stop shipping USB Drive with their OS on it gadgetzz“It was an interesting test, but it turns out the App Store was just fine for getting the new OS.” – Apple

So there you have it, apple will stop shipping their OS on a usb drive with their mac books. Not a huge loss to some but still its sad to see it go. I guess it just cost to much for them to ship a usb drive with every unit..

And if you dont have internet to download the os from.. face it its time you got some internet.

313060 Find My iPhone helps NYPD locate thief and stolen iPhone gadgetzzWe’ve heard plenty of stolen iPhone and iPad stories where Apple’s Find My iPhone came in handy in locating the missing devices, but this next story shows us something a little different. When a cashier at Tuci Italia in New York was robbed of her iPhone at gunpoint, the responding officers knew immediately what to do.

Officer Robert Garland, who arrived at the scene and who is an Apple fan–he and his wife own several iOS devices–knew that Find My iPhone may help track the thief and corner him. It worked.

The NY Times reports:

Punching in the victim’s Apple ID, which is the log-on people use to buy, say, songs from iTunes, he quickly determined by the location of a small gray phone icon on a digital map that the robber was near Eighth Avenue and 51st Street.

As Officer Garland and his partner drove there, the signal source shifted, closer to Eighth Avenue and 49th Street. There, a man later identified by the police as George Bradshaw, 40, of New Lots, Brooklyn, stepped outside a Food Emporium.

After locating Bradshaw, Officer Garland used the Find My iPhone app on his own device–this was possible after the victim entered her Apple ID and password into the officer’s app–to emit a sound from the stolen iPhone. Bradshaw was beeping just 20 feet away.

Locating and recovering the stolen iPhone, along with arresting the thief, took no more than 30 minutes. I’m sure the Tuci Italia cashier was thrilled to get her stolen iPhone back in no time. And it’s great to know that law enforcement officers are now becoming technology savvy, which undoubtedly helped with the very swift justice in this case.

If you own one or more iOS devices, consider enabling and using Find My iPhone for all of them. You never know when it might come in handy.
