58201531 bullets Self Guiding bullet prototyped by US Weapons Experts gadgetzz

Prototype with a LED attached to it

How does a self steering bullet sound? This might soon be the future..

The bullet uses tiny fins to correct the course of its flight allowing it to hit laser-illuminated targets.

It is designed to be capable of hitting objects at distances of about 2km (1.24 miles). Work on a prototype suggests that accuracy is best at longer ranges.

The team has carried out both field tests and computer simulations, and says “engineering issues” remain. However, they add that they are confident of bringing the product to market. (more…)

Get your very own sattelite

The PhD student Zac Manchester at Cornell University in the United States to open space for people that want to do their own experiments.

He now offers to send out your own small satellite in orbit around the Earth that sends a free of choice code to the earth.

The satellite, which is only slightly larger than a postage stamp consists of a circuit board tipped with a bit of electronics, photovoltaics, and a radio transmitter.

A swarm of hundreds of these satellites, which has been renamed to The Sprite Spacecraft, should be packed in a box, called Cubes, which is scheduled to be launched into space at the beginning of 2013. (more…)

nothing is impossible, written on the edge of a razorblade

Graham Short is a 64-year-old copper and steel engraver from the UK. This doesn’t seem too interesting…until you hear about his obsession! Graham has a thing for doing miniature engravings, typically on a microscopic scale! His most recent feat on the blade is the phrase “Nothing is impossible” carved one tenth of a millimeter wide on the edge of a razor blade! He must’ve really believed these words, because the painstaking process took him 150 attempts and the words can only be seen with a microscope at 400X magnification! Not only that, but he was only able to work from midnight to 5:30 AM to reduce vibrations from traffic outside his home!

He prepares for each engraving session by reducing his heartbeat to 20 beats per minute and relaxing his body for an hour and a half beforehand! He then used a stethoscope to make his strokes between heartbeats in order to reduce ALL unwanted movement. All this work and each sitting only yields him three letters…if he’s lucky! The finished product is now available to buy for the reasonable price of 47,500 British pounds, considering it took Short the better part of seven months to complete.

ninjapins 276x300 Ninjapins rids you of annoying pin holes gadgetzz

Ninjapins

As you know pins leave marks. Now this may not be a major world crisis, but it can be a pain for example if you are moving out of a dorm.

so.. it still isnt a world crisis, and the solution isnt overly complex. But it works, and osmetimes the simplest of gadgets are the best. WHat the Ninjapins do is remove that round spike and replcae it with a bent metal pin instead. To you it wont matter, it wont bend and it will be as easy as ever to stick in your wall, or ppinboard. Except it promises to leave virtually no mark behind after it’s removed. The con is:

1. you wont find it at staples very soon. It’s exclusive to japan for now.

2. a 5-piece set from Assist on goes for around $5 (400 yen)

In the us a 5 piece set of regular pins go for about 1$ , while in Europe the price difference may not be that great it still is noticeable. But there you have it, the solution to pin holes in walls!

Sony's new Vaio Z with external GPU dock

Sony has just revealed that they will be pushing a new line of Vaio Z laptops. The specs reveal a 13.1-inch “ultramobile” notebook that comes in at under 1.2kg with a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, 1600×900 screen and sheet battery borrowed from the earlier VAIO S for up to 7 hours of computing. Onboard it features only Intel’s HD Graphics 3000 solution but the VAIO Z beats other ultralights with its Power Media Dock, which contributes the power of an AMD Radeon 6650M GPU with 1GB of dedicated memory connected via “Intel Light Peak”, since sony can’t call it Thunderbolt due to apple being funny and renamng everything they get in their hands. but the dock isn’t just a GPU it has USB, VGA and HDMI ports as well as a bluray disk drive with slot in technology. Also Sony UK lets you configure your own version starting at 2294$ and the dock will be an extra option for 640$ without the optical slot.
