stepper small 1 A Functional 3D Printed Stepper Motor gadgetzzThere have been many cool things 3D printed, even automatic rifles. So what makes this special? Not to imply a functional 3D printed motor isnt awesome enough. But also, picture machines that can copy themselves, and make its own spare parts. This is a step towards just that.

Most 3D printers use stepper motors to control the movement of the extruder head. If you could actually print those motors it would be one more big step toward self-replicating hardware. Now obviously [Chris Hawkins'] working 3d printed stepper motor wasn’t built 100% through 3D printing, but the majority of the parts were. All that he had to add was the electronic driver pieces, magnets, wire, and a few nails.

This box right here, there are 15 gaming consoles in it. No emulators here, it is literally 15 different consoles. All powered by one power supply.
The creator spent 3,500 hours over 3 years to make this, laying out 300 meters of cabling inside what ended up being a 20kg (44lbs) box. It is currently unique, so you cant buy it. However with a little skill you can easily build one yourself.

3D Printed Guns Are Here!

It was bound to happen, with 3D printers becoming more easily available for consumers. Now someone has printed a functional semi-automatic rifle. This can not end well.

Either way, the person that did it also made a documentary on it which you can see above. Here is the description.

Cody R Wilson has figured out how to print a semi-automatic rifle from the comfort of his own home. Now he’s putting all the information online so that others will join him.

This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 24 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology. This makes him a highly controversial figure on both sides of the gun control issue. MOTHERBOARD sat down with Cody in Austin, Texas to talk about the constitution, the legal system, and to watch him make and test-fire a 3D-printed gun

A user by the name of Businesscat2000 has posted a handful of videos which show iOS apps running on a PlayBook. Understandably, his claims were met with skepticism on the CrackBerry Forums, until one user sent him an iPhone-only app, which he then got up and running on a PlayBook within an hour. Hmmm.

However this isn’t something the average user will be able to do. It took the expert-hacker an hour to port an app then its simply not feasible to the average user. However it’s still a cool concept.

Now where’s my Android phone running IOS?
